2026 motor-vehicle-glass law

Act 327 is effective now. It addresses estimates, written ADAS calibration notices, completion documentation, and motor-vehicle-glass claim practices.

Act 701 is generally scheduled for January 1, 2027. It changes the inspection framework for most parishes, with a separate provision for certain federally regulated programs.

Safety

Practical context

Before you drive or schedule repair

  • Use the official weather alert to assess immediate travel conditions.
  • Use Louisiana 511 for closures, restrictions, construction, and road incidents.
  • For glass damage, evaluate visibility and windshield integrity—not just inspection thresholds.
  • For ADAS-equipped vehicles, follow the manufacturer procedure and request documentation when applicable.

About this brief

Useful, not sensational.

The Louisiana Vehicle Brief surfaces official, vehicle-relevant information. It does not infer a repair decision from weather, traffic, or an alert. Road data will be added in-site after the official 511 developer integration is connected.
