LDEQ lists Ascension among the parishes subject to its Baton Rouge-area vehicle Inspection and Maintenance program. Under Act 701, the new law takes effect for parishes subject to the federal Clean Air Act I/M program if and when the United States Environmental Protection Agency adopts DEQ's proposed State Implementation Plan amendments.
